Review Invitation Process
Invitation to review
As a reviewer, you will learn of the review request via email. Upon receipt of the request to review, please read the Editor’s email, which includes the article abstract, to determine whether the subject is within your area of expertise and whether you can complete the review in the stated time frame.
Visit the SUBMISSION URL provided in the Review Request email from the Editor and accept or decline the invitation to review.
If you decline the request to review
Indicate why you are declining and, if possible, please suggest a colleague who may be able to review the manuscript. If appropriate, the Editor may send an invitation to review to that individual. You may not “transfer” your invitation to review the manuscript to a colleague.
If you accept the request to review
Double-check the manuscript to determine whether you may have any conflict of interest. If you have either a time problem or a conflict of interest, contact the assigned Editor for instructions. Reviewers will be asked to complete their review within three weeks. The Editor may extend your deadline or cancel the review assignment as appropriate.
Instructions are also available here to guide you throught the process and naviagte the OJS software for submitting your review.
Reviewer Guidelines
The Journal of Restorative Reproductive Medicine (JRRM) and its editors, authors, and readers appreciate your willingness to accept the responsibility of reviewing for the Journal and helping to advance the field of restorative reproductive medicine.
A good reviewer has two goals:
- To aid the Editor in making the decision to publish the manuscript or not.
- To help authors understand how they can improve their manuscript.
Confidentiality
This Journal uses a single-anonymized review process, which means the identities of the reviewers are concealed from the authors. Note that the article provided to you for review is a privileged document and must remain confidential. Do not cite an article or refer to the work it describes before it has been published, and do not use the information that it contains for the advancement of your own research or in discussions with colleagues.
Any use of artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted technologies by peer reviewers must be communicated to the editorial team and must be done in a way that preserves the manuscript’s confidentiality.
Manuscripts under review may not be disclosed to a third party. If a reviewer wishes to solicit an opinion from a colleague, they should seek permission from the Editor beforehand.
Aspects to Consider During Review
When reviewing manuscripts, please consider the following aspects, as applicable:
- Significance
- Originality
- Adequacy of title, abstract, and introduction
- Methodology and design
- Results
- Discussion and soundness of conclusions and interpretation
- References
- Appropriateness of tables
- Appropriateness of figures
- Writing quality
- Organisation
This list is not exhaustive, and you should consider any other aspects relevant to the scientific quality of the manuscript.
Organising Your Review
In your overall comments to the author:
- Provide an introductory paragraph with your overall impression of the paper.
- Follow with specific numbered comments, separated into major and minor points if necessary.
- Be specific about required changes, referencing the relevant section with appropriate page and/or line numbers.
To maintain the integrity of the single-anonymized review process, ensure any personal identifying information is removed.
We recommend composing your review in a word processor and copying it into the submission form. This ensures you retain a local copy in case of computer errors.
Professional Conduct
Criticism should always be objective and intended to help the author(s) improve their paper. Offensive remarks or personal criticism are not acceptable. Any confidential remarks, including suspected conflicts of interest, misconduct, or plagiarism, should be directed to the Editor using the designated confidential comments section.
While correcting deficiencies of style or grammar is not required, reviewers may critique and comment on writing and grammar if it improves readability and understanding of the paper.
Final Recommendation
Advise the Editor of your recommendation (acceptance, revision, or rejection) by using the dropdown menu. Note that the final decision rests solely with the Editors. Avoid stating your recommendation in the portion of the review sent to the author.
Further Assistance
If you need additional help with the review process or the system, please contact the Editorial Office.
